Finally finished another concertina or leporello book just before Christmas. An interesting experiment for me, trying to illustrate the Wordsworth poem ‘Upon Westminster Bridge’ with a mix of old and new technology.
I have been asked to write about my favourite photograph in conjunction with a talk in early September. This must be one of the most difficult editing processes for a photographer. The decision will change on a daily basis, depending on current projects, work and new ideas that have found space in a notebook. I think the closest I can ever get is one of my favourites. So a few thoughts. Pinhole Impressions 3 was taken in the winter of 2007. It was part of a series included in the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition in 2008, which […]
The full set of polymer gravure prints or photo etchings I have been making at East London Printmakers over the last few months. They will be included in the Wildlings exhibition at Oxford House, Bethnal Green.
A few new images taken recently, which I might include in the selection for the Wildlings exhibition at Oxford House. I found these whilst rowing, returning later with a camera. Three images from Contrast the City exhibition. Tate Modern, Celtis laevigata ‘smallii’, and St.Paul’s Cathedral, from Contrast the City exhibition. Edition of 10
The ‘Contrast the City’ exhibition I have been working on with artist Caroline Underwood, is now open for the next two weeks. Anyone in the vicinity of London Bridge please drop by (Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm). It’s at The Hide Gallery, 22B Leathermarket Street, London SE1 3HP.
Trellick Tower, West London. A grade 2 listed building in the rather splendidly named ‘Brutalist’ style. More possible selections for the exhibition ‘Contrast the City’ I’m preparing for with artist Caroline Underwood.
Gunnersbury Park, 3.2.09. Editing down a selection of photographs today for an exhibition in three weeks time. I started the day with around 40 photos. This has increased to over 100.
Just finished making my first hand-bound ‘leporello’ book, with words by Alys Fowler. For a collaborative project currently entitled ‘Wildlings’, which will include work from various folk, including paintings by Lynn Keddie. I’ll post updates as the project develops. From the Oxford English Dictionary, “Wilding or Wildling..a plant sown by natural agency”.
