In 2007 I took photographs for a folio called ‘Pinhole Impressions’, which is a record of trees at RHS Wisley using a pinhole camera. I was lucky enough to have this exhibited at both Kew and Wisley at the time. 10 years on, some of these trees are under threat from the proposed development of the M25 and A3 road junction. Giant Redwood – Sequoiadendron giganteum. The girth of the trunk at its base is 5 metres, indicating an age of about 100 years. So in tree terms, just a teenager!
A walk yesterday with Alys Fowler, taking in a few Brutalist Architecture classics. Starting at the infamous Erno Goldfinger building, the Trellick Tower, following the Regent’s Canal to Regent’s Park and the Royal College of Physicians, then on to The Barbican. I have been to the Barbican many times, but I never knew there was a temperate green house, the Conservatory, which is open to the public. Apparently the second largest in London, it is powered by the residual heat from all of the domestic underfloor heating. Open only on Sunday’s, but we obviously went in through the out door!
A gallery from a big shoot last summer for Gardeners’ World, where I was lucky enough to visit gardens as far as The Lake District, North and West Wales, and the South Coast, for their Garden of the Year competition. The March issue of the magazine arrived today, with the final set of images from the 2016 winners, and details of how to enter this year. The ‘Small Space’ winner and Judges Choice was Steve Moodey’s garden in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. A selection of work taken recently for the RHS at Wisley.
From a shoot on business women in You Magazine on 16th August 2015. On a large feature, several thousand shots often need editing down to half a dozen or so. This means overlooking many equally good images. So, a small selection of out-takes. The first, a quick shot as I was packing my kit away. Two more from the same series:
